THE baby boom just keeps on going at TV3 with new presenter Michelle Doherty becoming the latest to confirm her pregnancy.
The DJ and television presenter said that she was "absolutely thrilled" to be expecting her first child with her boyfriend Mark O'Shea.
Michelle, whose news will not affect her TV3 contract, revealed that she had been feeling broody for some time.
The surprise announcement came just months after she was confirmed as the replacement for Xpose host Aisling O'Loughlin, who is currently on maternity leave.
Michelle is due to give birth at the end of August and is expected to leave the Xpose team in April, when Aisling is scheduled to return.
"Both Mark and I are very excited about becoming parents," said Michelle. "I'm very maternal and have been feeling broody for a while now, so I'm over the moon with my news."
The 35-year-old described her time on TV3 since joining the Xpose team in November as "an absolute whirlwind".
"I want to especially thank everyone for welcoming me to Xpose and sending me all their warm wishes on the back of my baby news," she added.
Michelle, who is said to be in the early stages of pregnancy, will see out the remainder of her contract with the Ballymount station.
"She has been trying to have a baby for a while, so the whole station is just delighted for her," said a TV3 insider. "She is still quite early in her pregnancy, so she will be here for another few months.
"It looks like herself and Aisling could just directly swap roles when Aisling comes back in May."
Michelle, originally of Donegal, spoke about her news on the show last night, and her excited co-hosts Lisa Cannon, Glenda Gilson -- both of whom announced their engagements recently -- and Karen Koster said that they were delighted for her.
Michelle and Mark have been dating for more than a year and moved in to a plush London pad after just three months together. She has been splitting her time between Dublin and the UK since getting the TV3 job.
"It was a bit of a whirlwind, but we're still living together," she joked recently.
While Michelle is not sure if she will marry her Kerry beau, she told how he was definitely a keeper and how he couldn't wait to welcome their new addition.
He's definitely 'The One'," she told the Herald.
"He's a dote and a great man. He's met my mum and dad and they are mad about him.
"I don't know if you can expect a wedding. I'm not that traditional, really. We're happy as it is so we'll see how it goes."
