Billboard's 'Icon of the Year' Jennifer Lopez set to pen memoir
Author from the block? Jennifer Lopez is set to pen a book titled True Love to be released in late October 2014.
The news comes just after she received the Icon Award at Sunday night’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas.
True Love will document a particular period of the superstar’s life where she confronted her greatest challenges and faced her biggest fears.
The 44-year-old has identified the years in question as the defining period of her life.
Also included in the book will be personal photographs, candid diary entries and private recollections.
The American Idol judge said that writing her memoir has been a “deeply cathartic, personal, and vulnerable experience.”
The mum of two added, “If it were not for the love and courage given to me by my children, this story wouldn’t have been possible. While I struggled with the decision of whether or not to release this book, I recognized that if it could touch even just one person then it would honestly become one of the most fulfilling endeavors of my life."
The book is due for release on October 28th. A hardcover edition of the book will be published simultaneously in English and Spanish.
A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit The Lopez Family Foundation.
The Lopez Family Foundation was founded by Jennifer and her sister Lynda to ensure access to proper medical care for disadvantaged women and children.
Partnered with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Telemedicine, Samsung and Best Buy; the foundation’s logo is “Where children are concerned, there is no time to lose”.
