Arrival of new baby boy keeps Ronan at Jessica's bedside
INTERNATIONAL rugby star Ronan O'Gara had to miss the wedding of his teammate -- so he could stay by the hospital bedside of his wife after the birth of their son.
Jessica, pictured above with Ronan, went into labour on Wednesday afternoon.
She gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Cork University Maternity Hospital shortly before midnight. Ronan was said to be "absolutely thrilled" at the birth
Congratulations flooded in from their many friends within the rugby world -- including a special message of good wishes from Brian and Amy.
Family friends said both Ronan and Jessica were "over the moon". "Everyone is absolutely thrilled with the good news. Jessica and Ronan are delighted with their new son," one said.
"Ronan was touring with the Irish team in Australia and only got back on Monday -- so he was just in time for the birth. He was delighted to be there to support Jessica."
While the timing of the birth may have spoiled their hopes for Brian and Amy's big day, Ronan was relieved that Jessica's labour had'nt occurred any earlier. Both mother and baby were said to be doing very well last night, with Jessica expected to be discharged from hospital this evening.
She is a primary school teacher in Douglas and two years ago gave birth to twins, Molly and Rua.
