The Irish actor plays the evil Lord 'Littlefinger' Baelish in the hit show, and admitted he has had some strange encounters with fans.

Aidan revealed: "I don't go out much but an unnaturally tall guy with long hair in a raggy black coat tried to put some kind of curse on me one night in Krakow. Maybe he succeeded. Only time will tell!"

The actor confessed that while he is recognised by all kinds of fans from the different shows he has starred in, some are nicer than others.

He explained: "I've been around a few shows that have had dedicated admirers - Queer As Folk, The Wire, Game Of Thrones, Love/Hate.

"It's fine - you get people coming up to you, doing and saying stuff, but 'cause of the way things are all available at the same time now, if you're talking street-level action, it'll be a mixed bag. So on a decent stretch I could get a wide variety of jibes. It's always nice when one character takes over from another.

"It's always good when the guy at the checkout in the supermarket says 'Whatever you desire, Lord Baelish' when you ask for a plastic bag. Not so good when people point imaginary guns at you or make throat slitting gestures, but they're only imaginary I suppose."

:: Aidan stars in new drama Mayday which begins on BBC One on Sunday, March 3 and runs consecutively over five nights.
