NEWS anchor Aengus MacGrianna is to tie the knot.
Ten years after getting together with his partner Terry Gill (40), the RTE star is celebrating his engagement and plans to tie the knot in the UK next year.
The newsreader became an instant internet sensation after footage of him touching up his make-up and fixing his tie was aired accidentally on RTE's digital news channel.
The dapper television star will no doubt ensure he is perfectly coiffed and groomed hours in advance to avoid any 'blushes' on his special day.
The pair aim to wed in the UK next year if the same-sex marriage bill comes into force, rather than opting for a civil partnership in Ireland.
Aengus (50), who will be taking part in RTE's 'Celebrity MasterChef' series, revealed his partner popped the question during a romantic meal on the sun-deck of their home. "I was still taken by surprise when the proposal came," he said, as the proposal came after 10 years together.
"Marriage is important to me so we'd rather do this in the UK or the US rather than have a civil partnership in Ireland. But we do plan to come back home for a big informal party for friends and family," he added.
The newsreader will be just one familiar face on the cooking series, judged by Dylan McGrath and Nick Munier. Others competing include racing presenter Tracy Piggott, comic Gary Cooke and Yvonne Keating.
The series airs on RTE One next Sunday at 9.30pm.
