Adam Richman says there is nothing wrong with his health

Man v Food star Adam Richman denies there's anything wrong with his health - despite taking on so many eating challenges.

The New Yorker is known for eating meals of gargantuan proportions in the TV series Man v Food.

Earlier this year, after 86 food challenges, he decided to change the format - inviting local people to take on the challenges instead in Food Network UK series Man v Food Nation.

"My health is wonderful," he said. "I want to debunk that rumour, it's porkie pies.

"I think people wanted me to [suffer] but if you take the steps to stave off the adverse effects of any indulgence, you can have your cake and eat it too.

"My good health is my way of serving my haters a bit of humble pie and making them choke on it."

He added: "Exercise helps. I mean that in earnest. Squats, leg extensions, interval sprints, anything I'd do with my quads or back would help burn calories."

He said: "At no point would I espouse eating a 5lb burger as a lifestyle choice, that would be foolhardy and reprehensible."

:: Man v Food Nation continues on Mondays on Food Network UK. Adam Richman also stars in Amazing Eats on Mondays and Adam Richman's Best Sandwich In America on Sundays, both also on Food Network UK .
