A year of big breaks for our top models

There's plenty of activity in the modelling world these days. First up is former Miss Ireland, Blathnaid McKenna, who has landed a big break after being chosen by internationally feted designer John Rocha to model some of his new creations.
A friend revealed: "It looks like he has some big plans for her that could even result in a breakthrough for her on the international circuit."
Meanwhile, we expect mod-el Ruth Griffin won't be going back on the catwalk for quite a while, after giving birth to a bouncing baby last week.
And after nearly a year with TV3's Xposé, Glenda Gilson has decided to abandon the world of modelling altogether.
The Castleknock beauty loves her job, even though it entails a lot of travelling and long work in the editing suite. She looks back on her modelling days as a boring time.
Her former contemporary Andrea Roche has also cut back on modelling and is now the main moving force behind the Miss Universe Ireland pageant, since business partner Mags Humphries, of the Assets agency, went off to Australia.
Meanwhile, the very first Kerry Fashion Weekend will take place on April 18 and 19. For more information, see www.kerryfashion.eu
Not to be outdone, Cork is also getting in on the style act with the Irish Fashion Weekend which gets underway next Friday and Saturday in Kinsale.
