A very modern break-up: Caroline Wozniacki's social media message to Rory after split
Caroline Wozniacki has taken to Twitter to show Rory McIlroy just how okay she is after their engagement ended last month.
The pair, who had been dating for nearly two years, became engaged on New Year's Eve, ended their romance nearly two weeks ago.
Irish golfer McIlroy announced he ended their relationship with a press release send via his Dublin communications firm and both have only spoken briefly about the split.
But Caroline has hit back in a different fashion to press releases and conferences, instead utilising social media to post an endless array of smiling, happy images of her life in the the wake of their break-up.
The former world number one tennis player joined Instagram just last week, posting photos of her and pal Serena Williams soaking up the sun in Miami, while also tweeting profound quotes.
She enjoyed a week long sojourn to Florida where she enjoyed a Miami Heat basketball game, boat tour, crashing a stranger's wedding and ensuring all eyes were on her in a teeny weeny bikini as she hit the beach.
While Wozniacki is no stranger to social media as she regularly posted pictures of her and her former other half on Twitter, she has taken to it with gusto as a newly single woman.
It has also been reported that McIlroy ended the relationship in a three minute phone call.
The call came as such a shock to Caroline that she reportedly believed it was a joke.
The couple had hired a celebrity wedding planner, sent out their invitations and Caroline, former world number one tennis player, had already picked her dress for the big day.
She spoke publicly about her upset, telling the press that it “came as a bit of a shock.”
She subsequently told the media: “I am happy to talk about my match but not my personal life.”
Against the wishes of her agent, she admirably returned to the court days after her split.
