Louis Tomlinson apparently got a telling off from police after he was spotted standing up out of the sunroof of a moving car.
The One Direction star was standing up and filming himself as the car drove through the streets of New York - where the band are staying ahead of their performance at the Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden - when the cops pulled him over and gave him a warning about road safety.
A source told The Sun: "Louis and the lads are having a great time in the Big Apple and want to capture every minute.
"Louis was only standing through the sunroof momentarily but it was long enough to catch the eye of the cops. He may have found it funny but motorists stuck in a traffic jam certainly didn't."
Louis, who even posed for pictures with the officers alongside bandmate Niall Horan after his ticking off, was thought to be shooting scenes for the band's upcoming 3D concert film.
The movie is being directed by Morgan Spurlock but last month it was revealed that the boys may also step behind the camera.
Louis told MTV News: "Niall's got a camera, so he's going to film some of the film."
