Pink can get a bad press. But the multi-faceted shade is the perfect pick-me-up. Whether it's a statement lip, a subtle dusting of blush or a sophisticated coat of pale polish, there's something for everyone. Check these out.
Clockwise from top:
Lancome Blush in Love, €48
This compact is so pretty, it almost seems like a shame to use it. Almost ... Available in two finely milled shades, Pommettes D'Amour is a hot neon pink with touches of coral, while Peche Joue-Joue is a dusty peach with hints of pale pink. They're silky soft, easy to blend and both have quite a sheer finish and are suited to those of us with light to medium-toned complexions. But they come with a hefty price tag so these palettes are definitely a payday purchase.
Dior Rosy Glow Blush, €25
It's hard not to be cynical when a product promises to adapt to your skin tone, giving you a unique flush, but this initially frighteningly vivid powder is actually deceptively light and certainly has transformative effects. It's buildable too, so after a single sweep, you look like you have a natural, subtle glow (yourself, only better!) or you can really work it for a more dramatic look.
Bobbi Brown's Pot Rouge in Pink Truffle, €20
A gorgeous shade that's highly blendable for a soft and dewy look. This is surprisingly long-lasting with great staying power considering its creamy texture. It also double-jobs as a lovely lip stain. Just use some lip balm underneath to stop lips drying out.
Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Muse, €13
This range is an enigma: Matte, yet glides on easily. Moisturising, yet richly pigmented. The long-lasting, bright muse offers a perfect pop of colour for of-the-moment lips.
Burberry Lip Glow in Pink Sweet Pea, €26.50
A vivid fuchsia gloss with subtle cool undertones and more than a hint of shimmer, this semi-opaque gloss is very wearable, feels comfortable on and leaves lips nicely hydrated. It's definitely for the bold and playful among us. Bonus points for the sleek, chic packaging, which makes you wish you had to reapply it more often!
Nars Satin Lip Pencil, €25
A single swipe of this new formula (think a blend of balm and lipstick) results in a gorgeous, opaque colour with a glossy finish. Biscayne Park is a great pinky nude, while Mainly Yu offers a much brighter alternative. The highly pigmented pencil passes the coffee test with flying colours, and manages the remarkable feat of fading nicely and evenly.
Maybelline Color Show Bubblicious, €4.55
I'm smiling every time I catch sight of my nails which are coated in this fabulously vibrant fuchsia. At least part of me is preparing for sunshine this summer! To make a serious statement, apply twice. But actually even one coat looks pretty hot and it's surprisingly long-lasting too. Great value (it's worth twice the price for the pick-me-up value!)
Essie Pink Diamond Nail Polish, €9.99
An understated baby pink shade that sparkles in the right light, goes on smoothly and has a pretty shimmery finish, this needs two coats for an opaque look. Touch dry within 15 minutes, but be careful for at least half an hour after applying. Very wearable.
