When it comes to getting red carpet ready you can forget pale and interesting, because whether it's a peaches n' cream glow or a week on the beach glow no celebrity goes without a hint of tint of tan.
But, do as they do on the red carpet now and start to think about using a self tan as a way of skin finishing and perfecting, rather than taking your skin three shades darker.
Self tan is now no longer the reserve of that deep desert Farah Fawcett tan, because bronzing the clever, celebrity way is about creating an airbrushed, perfect, health-looking skin that catches the light in all the right places, as seen on Sienna Miller, Kelly Osbourne and Amy Poehler at the Golden Globes, and as created by Fiona Locke, the LA based St.Tropez Skin Finishing Expert.
For Sienna Miller, Locke created the 'English Rose'. "Sienna has a very beautiful English skin tone so I wanted to keep her colour very light and dewy. My goal was to give a gentle hint of colour that would enhance her natural beauty and complement her gown. The key to her look was the St.Tropez Rose Skin Illuminator I used to highlight her arms and décolletage." It's a beautiful little sheeny creamy product that can be pressed into skin, on the face and body, where light naturally hits to lift, boost and contour the complexion.
Locke also went on to use St.Tropez Perfect Legs Spray on Miller. This may be a genius little product to even out otherwise pasty, patchy legs, but sprayed "on cheekbones, décolletage, shoulder and shins for a beautiful highlight and English Rose hue," as Locke explains, it's a fabulous little sculpting spray that can also be used on the go.
'Red Carpet Drama' inspired Kelly Osbourne's look. "She has such flawless skin and I wanted to enhance it with a deeper colour," explains Locke who used, "the St.Tropez Self Tan Dark formula on Kelly to create a stunning red carpet moment," to just gently lift and even out her winter skin.
On Amy Poehler it was about giving super pale skin a glow "that wouldn't be too harsh," says Locke, who decided to blend in St.Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse with circular motions using the applicator for a softer, velvety, real skin texture. Locke wanted an "ultra-even colour that delivers a natural yet vibrant look."
For Anna Gunn it was a 'blushing beauty' look, using St.Tropez Self Tan Dark Mousse for a sun kissed glow on arms, chest and face as a couple of days in the sun would do, while Connie Briton took on Locke's 'Leading Lady Luster' natural golden glow with the St.Tropez Wash Off Instant Glow Body Lotion (a brilliant little last minute skin perfecting product that won't come off on clothes).
If you haven't already, let these new rules on tanning inspire an update to your bronzing wardrobe and mindset. With smart products like these, and a little practice to make perfect, that worrying big winter-to-spring skin reveal is thankfully now a thing of the pasty past.
