All I want for Valentine's...is an umbrella

It's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year...well, not if you're a man.
A new survey has revealed that 53% of Irish men are disappointed with their gifts on February 14th.
However, it's not all bad news as the majority of women are satisfied with their presents on Valentine's and would prefer more practical gifts like umbrellas, according to research by Debenhams.
“It has always been the men asking for help when it comes to gift buying but now women have swallowed their pride and admitted to being clueless Cupids," Debenhams spokesperson Karen Nason said.
“Men have got much better at Valentine’s gift buying in recent years – women now need to catch up.”
Rather than indulging in an expensive luxury item for your other half, it seems most men want something practical.
“Our research shows that men would much rather have something stylish and practical rather than a token novelty gift," Nason added.
“The rainy weather is one of the most influencing factors on gifts this year with macs and umbrellas high on many men’s wish lists.”
“Better gifts don’t necessarily mean shelling out and many men said they don’t expect an expensive gift – merely something that is thoughtful.”
