Heavy rain this evening as the weekend chill gives way to milder conditions

There is a chill in the air this morning as temperatures struggle to get above freezing.
According to Met Éireann, Monday's temperatures will hover between 3C and 7C before rising to highs of 11C later in the day.
The weather is expected to be dry and bright until around noon when some areas will experience scattered showers.
“It’s cold and frosty this morning, with mostly dry weather across the midlands,” said the weather forecaster.

“However cloud will quickly increase with scattered outbreaks of rain moving down from the northwest; more persistent rain will follow from the west later in the afternoon and evening, affecting all areas.”
The rain will clear early tonight for most of the country, though parts of Connacht and Ulster will be hit with heavy showers later in the night.
Tuesday is expected to be cool and breezy with scattered heavy blustery showers falling across the day.
“Showers will be frequent in parts of the west and north, with the risk of thunder,” said Met Éireann
The day will largely be frost free and temperatures are expected to hover around 6C to 9C. the forecaster added.
