Fur-eezing temperatures to bite again
EUROPE was braced to shiver again this week and see some snow in a fresh blast of wintry weather.
Eastern parts of Britain were most at risk of snow showers, and overnight temperatures will plunge below freezing across most parts over the next few days.
It will also feel increasingly cold in the daytime, falling to 1C (34F) in places as a chill north-east wind strengthens through the week.
Meanwhile, heavy snowfall has caused serious disruption to transport in Bulgaria and neighbouring Romania, blocking highways and leaving hundreds of cars stranded in snow.
Officials in Bulgaria say the weather caused power outages in parts of the country yesterday, and delayed most flights for about an hour at Sofia International Airport.
Off-road vehicles are being used to free stranded drivers and transport patients requiring emergency treatment to the hospital.
In Romania, snow and blizzards delayed national rail services for up to two hours.
Authorities in snow-covered Bucharest, the Romanian capital, urged drivers not to use their cars in the city.
