Enjoy today’s sunshine as rain is due to return this weekend.

The dry and sunny spells that will be enjoyed throughout most of the country today will turn to heavy, thundery showers over the weekend.

Temperatures are forecast to hit 17 degrees today and will remain mild over the weekend.

It will turn cloudy tonight, with outbreaks of rain in the Southern half of the country turning heavier into Friday.

Parts of the North will stay dry until Friday evening, but there is a risk of spot flooding in the South with heavy pulses of rain forecast throughout the day.

Saturday will stay cloudy with persistent rain, possibly turning thundery in parts of Munster and Leinster.

The best opportunity to enjoy good weather this weekend will be on Sunday, when temperatures will hit 19 degrees and there will be some sunshine inbetween scattered showers.

Next week is set for more of the same. While temperatures will remain mild, there will be further heavy showers.
