Cold and windy start for 2012
IT is going to be a cold and blustery start to 2012 after a mild New Year's Eve.
The relatively warm weather which has characterised this festive period is coming to an end as a cold front moves across the country.
Revellers on New Year's Eve will initially enjoy temperatures in double figures. But then a sharp drop in temperatures is forecast -- from around 12C on New Year's Eve to about 3C on New Year's Day.
The first day of the new year is expected to be mainly dry in the east and southeast, with showers of rain, hail and sleet over mountain regions.
