We might be heading into a long, dark winter but at least there's some good news for the short-term.

The country can look forward to a dry weekend, even if there is a cold bite in the air.

Met Eireann report Thursday to remain dry and cloudy, with highest temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius.

Although temperatures will dip as low as 3 degrees Celsius tonight, we are promised another dry day on Friday with temperatures tipping 13 degrees again.

There will be frost overnight heading into the weekend, but you can make plans for Saturday safe in the knowledge that it will remain another dry day with a mixture of cloud and sunny intervals.

Wrap up warm again on Sunday to battle those fresh and strong easterly winds.

Much of the country will stay dry on Monday, with the rain finally due back for a show on Tuesday morning.

Met Eireann also confirmed that temperatures are slightly below normal for this time of the year.
