Murt from Borrisokane and the amazing technicolour tractor

Sarah-Jane Murphy

The residents of Borrisokane in Tipperary know how to celebrate Christmas in true rural style.

For the past six years Murt Toohey (30) and his brother Brian Toohey (27) have decked their tractor out in coloured fairy lights and gathered the town together to view the majestic sight.

Murt, a suckler cow farmer, is a drone enthusiast and filmed the footage using his DGI Phantom drone which he purchased last August.

"I love using the drone, it's totally state-of-the-art.

"Kids come from all around to see the tractor, we get maybe a few hundred people in total.

"I suppose you could say we are local celebrities for a night," he told Independent.ie.

The cabin portion of the tractor is lit up by blue lights, the silage cutter glows red and the bale of hay is green.

Bright yellow lights are used on the wheels giving an all-over technicolour feel to the vehicle.

"It's just good old-fashioned fun," Murt laughed.
