Kinsale RNLI were involved in a very unusual rescue over the weekend when they came to the aid of a herd of cattle who were up to their oxters in water.
John O'Gorman, a member of the lifeboat crew, said a passer-by spotted the animals is the sea and alerted the coast guard who in turn contacted the RNLI.
The lifeboat was launched and made it's way to where the distressed animals were located.
"The cows probably made their way into the water via a landbank I would imagine.
"The tide caught them out.
"Their owner was delighted to have them back safe and sound.
"It was a once-off type of rescue," he said
Action-packed footage shows the team using ropes to guide the animals in the direction of dry land.
The cows can be seen great fully leaping up on the grassy bank, relieved to have their hooves back on Terra Firma.
