Howley hopes to see Gatland join tour

Wales caretaker head coach Rob Howley remains hopeful Warren Gatland will be able to join the squad at some stage of their three-Test tour of Australia.Head coach Gatland is recovering from the serious heel injuries he suffered in a fall at his holiday home in New Zealand in April, and Howley will take charge for the summer fixtures against the Barbarians and the Wallabies while he recuperates.That means the Kiwi, who has guided Wales to two RBS 6 Nations Grand Slams during his tenure, will have to sit and watch as Wales go looking for a first Test win over Australia Down Under since 1969.

O'Driscoll fitness boost for Leinster

The 33-year-old missed Leinster's RaboDirect PRO12 semi-final victory over Glasgow last Saturday after undergoing minor knee surgery. O'Driscoll, who has winners medals from 2009 and 2011, had said earlier in the week: "You'd want to have a limb falling off really to not play in the Heineken Cup final." And the Ireland centre has returned to the Leinster starting line-up along with full-back Rob Kearney, who has overcome a back problem.

Scotland go Dutch with Visser

Holland-born Tim Visser will seek to prove his ability on the Test stage after being selected by Scotland for the summer tour to Australia, Fiji and Samoa.The flying Dutch wing, who has scored 43 tries in 74 appearances for Edinburgh, was one of five uncapped players named in Andy Robinson's 28-man squad. However there was also bad news for the Scotland coach after the IRB ruled that Steven Shingler is ineligible for Scotland because he represented Wales in an Under 20 international in 2011.
