Fair play to Yasmin the supermodel

While she might have been snappy with the snappers, supermodel Yasmin le Bon was like putty in the hands of the punters at the RDS last weekend for the opening of Showcase, the craft, gift, fashion and interiors fair.
She chatted like a pro with American oul' ones and buyers from all over the world. She told me she's coming back to be Newbridge Silverware's guest for Ladies Day at the Punchestown Festival.
The opening of Showcase (this year celebrating its 30th birthday) has always enjoyed a bit of razzmatazz with the Enterprise Minister of the day doing the honours.
Indeed when Charlie was Taoiseach, such was his grá for the craftspeople from all over the country that he insisted on doing the honours himself for years.
Micheal Martin missed the opening, he didn't make it last year either. He was just back from India, so it was left to William Doyle and his Newbridge Silverware team to provide some scintilla of excitement with Le Bon, bubbles and a baby grand piano not to mention acres of divine bling jewellery and shining silverware. Depending on who you chatted to, this year's Showcase was either fab or drab. Conor Holden, from Dingle, one of the few makers of luxury leather goods in the country told me that most of the buyers were astounded his bags and luggage were Irish-made.
Look out for Holden bags gals. These beautifully made accessories were being snapped up by buyers from the US and Japan and will be a 'must-have' for spring/summer.
Anyway an hour before the fair closed on Wednesday, our man Micheal actually turned up to present the INDEX Awards.
Hitting right note for Childline * Fresh from working on his new album in Sweden and hanging out with Louis Walsh, Leonardo di Caprio, Bruce Willis and Renee Zellweger in South Beach, this afternoon X Factor winner Shayne Ward jets in with his girlfriend Faye to sing at tomorrow night's Cheerios Childline Concert.
Indeed Louis has been the ultimate VBF to Caroline Downey, who produces the sold-out event. It is a key fund-raising project for the Childline charity. Westlife and G4 are also performing with Stephen Gately and Keith Duffy among the presenters.
Alison Healy of Nestle Cereals will host her traditional pre-concert VIP party in the O2 Point Club - where lucky guests get to mingle with the stars.
After the concert it will be straight to Lillies for the VIP party.
