Tourism Queensland is offering a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity to escape from the Irish winter, the 'credit crunch', the threat of redundancy and all things gloomy with the chance to apply for the 'Best Job in the World'.
Based on the Great Barrier Reef's beautiful Hamilton Island, the job is a six-month contract for the role of Island Caretaker.
This amazing live-in position has a salary package of AUD $150,000, flexible working hours and key responsibilities include exploring the idyllic and tropical Islands of the Great Barrier Reef to discover and promote, to a global audience, what the destination has to offer.
The successful applicant will be swapping the 'rat race' for a charmed life in the tropical paradise of the Islands of the Great Barrier to feed the fish, clean the pool or collect the post -- but only if you feel like it!
The only real requirement is to report back on your adventures to Tourism Queensland headquarters in Brisbane (and the rest of the world) via weekly blogs, photo diary, video updates and ongoing media interviews.
On offer is a unique opportunity to help promote the wondrous Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
Living above the Great Barrier Reef is a pretty unique benefit, but the successful candidate will also be paid a salary package of AUD $150,000 for the six-month contract.
They will receive return airfares from the nearest capital city (in their home country), rent free accommodation in a luxury three bedroom house and transport on Hamilton Island, travel insurance for the contract period, computer, internet, digital video and stills cameras access, plus travel to a number of the other Islands of the Great Barrier Reef.
The six-month contract commences on 1st July 2009.
A broad range of experience will be considered and ideally the applicant should possess:
Excellent communication skills
Good written and verbal English skills
An adventurous attitude
Willingness to try new things
A passion for the outdoors
Good swimming skills and enthusiasm for snorkelling and/or diving
