EU posting betrays skewed attitude to 'gender balance'
Thursday November 19 2009
What would the man in the street know? He is, after all, a man; and in the land of EU politics, gender correction is queen
Nostalgic fantasy of student rebel
Wednesday November 18 2009
FINTAN Gibney's rebuke of Kevin Myers (Letters, November 13) is little more than the nostalgic fantasy of the student union agitator.
Attack on Kevin Myers is cheap
Tuesday November 17 2009
I read with disbelief the letter from Fintan Gibney, 'Mr Myers knows the left only too well' (Irish Independent, November 13), which appears to be nothing more than an attack on the personal integrity and character of Kevin Myers.
Turkey's left wing will taste best
Monday November 16 2009
It was with amusement and annoyance that I realised your outspoken columnist, Kevin Myers, was being castigated for presenting accurate facts on the "glorious communist system". He was referred to as "Kevin the Red".
Kevin Myers gets it right yet again
Monday November 16 2009
Thank you for allowing me the space to offer my congratulations to Kevin Myers for the consistent brilliance of his columns in the Irish Independent. He is a must read each day.
Left supported Soviet tyranny
Saturday November 14 2009
I wish to congratulate Kevin Myers for his outstanding article on the relationship between the Irish left and the former Soviet empire (Irish Independent, November 12).

Thursday November 12 2009
- Figures from the CSO show that in the year to June 2009 unemployment increased by 174,000. The split between private and public sector employment is very telling. Some 190,000 lost their jobs in the private sector, while at the same time employment in the public sector actually increased by 16,000. So much for "sharing the pain".
TD cull . . . Integrity . . . Lansdowne . . . Fat cats
Monday November 09 2009
- INDEPENDENT TD Jackie Healy Rae says alcohol has nothing to do with the deaths on our roads. Then, Fianna Fail's Mattie McGrath says one drink can help relax nervous drivers. This is proof, if ever we needed it, that it is time to cull the number of TDs we have.
Gay poetry does not pose a threat
Thursday November 05 2009
As a gay man, a media graduate, a civil marriage supporter, and a person generally ignorant of all things poetry, I felt compelled to respond to Kevin Myers's article 'No rhyme or reason . . .' (Irish Independent, November 3).
That's rich . . . Economic miracle . . . Flu . . . Unreal
Wednesday November 04 2009
- Your article about a bank which has been generously bailed out by the taxpayers hounding unemployed families over mortgage arrears reminds me very much of the gospel account of the debtor whose large debts were forgiven, and who went and hounded those who who owed small debts to him.
Mr Myers right about highways
Tuesday November 03 2009
KEVIN Myers was not being flippant when he wrote about dangerous Irish highways (Irish Independent, October 21). Consider the tragic death of Patrick McBride, a 68-year-old from Donegal, who fell head first into a hole outside his driveway -- a hole that had been left by the council for eight days.
