The previous month, August, had seen heavy rioting and violence erupt in the city and the Troubles start in earnest. Antrim had a narrow win over Roscommon at Croke Park; then they headed back to the Falls Road the day after to a jubilant reception.

The pregnant daughter of a Trinity College student is facing death by firing squad if she is convicted of smuggling drugs at a trial in Laos, a British legal charity believes. Samantha Orobator, 20, was arrested at Wattay Airport, Laos last August, allegedly in possession of 1.5lb (680g) of heroin.
