DAVID Beckham might be one of the world's most famous footballers but he only keeps three "really good friends", he has revealed.

The former Manchester United star, who has moved in Hollywood circles since arriving in Los Angeles to play for LA Galaxy, said his family was the most important thing in his life.

In an interview with the US edition of Men's Health, Mr Beckham, 36, said: "I’ve got friends at the different teams I’ve played for, but family is the most important thing to me. That will always be the case.

"I’ve got my wife. I’ve got my four kids. I’ve got parents, grandparents still, and three really good friends. It’s all you need. I’d rather have three really good friends than 20 good friends."

The footballer did not reveal who he considered to be his three closest friends but he has been known to spend time with Tom Cruise, who lives nearby in LA.

His former Man United team-mate Gary Neville was his best man, and the Beckham family have spent weekend with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana.

Last May, Mr Beckham was reunited with his peers from the famous class of '95 at Manchester United when he flew in to play for Mr Neville's testimonial. They included Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

When in the UK, he is regularly seen spending time with comedian James Corden while also socialising with Princes William and Harry. Along with wife Victoria, Mr Beckham attended Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton last April.
