Sir -- Brian O'Brien's letter (Open skies at the airport, Sunday Independent, September 21) criticised those who planned and designed the new Pier D boarding gate facility at Dublin Airport for failing to include airbridges.

Sir -- What your readers (with or without children and grandchildren of their own) do not realise is that an essential part of the plan for a single-campus children's hospital (on a small, traffic-gridlocked site at the Mater) is to close down and demolish the existing functioning 24-hour children's hospitals at Crumlin and Tallaght and replace both with one entirely new €30 million DAY ONLY (my italics), no overnight bed facility at Tallaght.
