Real Irish Weddings: Collete and Gerard's wedding in Birr was far from cold

Colette and Gerard, from Offaly, met at secondary school and over the years their love has grown.
While on a weekend away to Dingle, Co Kerry in 2014, Gerard had the perfect opportunity to propose to Colette on the beautiful Ventry beach.
Now both living and working in Dublin, the pair decided to celebrate their marriage back "at home" in Offaly and this year they were wed in Colette's local church, St James' in Birr, followed by their reception in the nearby County Arms Hotel.
Colette and Gerard didn't have a specific theme for their wedding reception decor, but nevertheless they added some stylish touches - including their drive from the church in a vintage convertible MG which they were gratefully able to borrow from a family member. Colette says that the classic car "thankfully complimented the lovely weather we got that day".
The pair also had their wedding stationery, including bottle labels with their names, designed and printed by Naomi at Print Factory, located just outside Birr, and their tractor cake topper, Colette says, was a nod to the groom. "Gerard has a love for farming and we spotted the cake topper and instantly knew the John Deere should feature on the day."
Colette and Gerard jetted off to Sorrento for their honeymoon after the wedding, soaking up the sun, food and sights.
