New information shows that the average Irish couple spends more than €20,000 on their wedding day and honeymoon.

More than 2,400 men and women were surveyed for mrs2be.ie, and are spending more on getting the right photographer over the right venue.

Couples are focusing on DJs, cakes and hair and makeup and saving on the dress and accessories.

One of the largest expenses facing brides and grooms is feeding their average 150, costing €41 to €60 per person.

New wedding trends also show engagements are shorter with many walking up the aisle after 13 months.
