Elle Gordon

The travel-mad model sits down with our reporter to chat about her favourite things, people and, of course, places.

The person

My mother, Zane. She's the strongest person I know. She always finds some positive in every negative. She's taught me how to be a lady, how to be a lover and never a hater, and how to make the best cheesecake.

The memory

I'm just back from Brazil. I got to see sloths - lots of them, in trees, and I got to hug a few too. We went on a night-time boat trip to catch some crocodiles, so we could see them up close. We released them asap, but found out that people do actually eat them in the jungle. And we got to see loads of exotic trees, plants, birds and insects!

The moment of the day

Bedtime. I must have been a bear in my past life. I love hibernating overnight. Getting into a warm bed after a day full of adventures, so that I can dream up some more, is my favourite feeling.

The song

Jose Gonzalez, Heartbeats. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It's very special to me.

The movie

White Chicks. I laugh out loud watching it.

The hero

My grandmother. She spent most of my childhood teaching me and my siblings English - it helped a lot when we moved to Ireland. She used to get up at 6am to make us porridge and sweet tea for breakfast, and she brought us to school every morning when my mum had to work. She's adamant on teaching me my whole family tree so that we know exactly where we came from.

The book

Does Vogue count?

The outfit

Skinny jeans, a T-shirt and Converse when I'm in the mood for pure comfort. If I am dressing up, I love to wear leather pants, a lace shirt and heels.

The drink

Fresh coconut water.

The accessory

A silver necklace from Stella & Dot. It's a very skinny chain with a little silver arrow on it. I haven't taken it off since I bought it. It's so dainty and cute and goes with everything.

The gadget

I am not a techie person. I use my smart TV to watch Netflix - that's as far as I've gone and will go with gadgets.

The pet hate

When people chew with their mouth open. It drives me absolutely crazy. I can't stand that sound!

The beauty product

Bioderma micellar cleanser. It feels like water, but it removes every last bit of make-up. It's such a great feeling after a fashion show or photo shoot to cleanse the day away.

The holiday

My favourite holiday to date was a trip to Chicago last year. We rented bikes and cycled along Lake Michigan, listened to bands play in jazz bars and danced in a burlesque bar until all hours.

The piece of advice

Live, laugh, love! Simple.

The hotel

The Langham Hotel in Chicago. I stayed there last year when visiting the city. It's in the perfect location, very central, and it's also close to the shopping areas and nightlife. The rooms are an absolute joke, they are so beautiful and so fancy, I felt like a princess when I was staying there.

The bar

No Name bar does the best cocktails in Dublin, I think. My favourite is the Mai Tai.

The hobby

Hiking. Being out in nature makes me feel incredible inside. It's where I feel at my most relaxed and peaceful. I am going to do the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru in July. It's something I've wanted to do for years, and my dream is finally coming true.

The part of my body

My smile! A smile is what makes a person beautiful, I think. If I see a person smiling, I'm already attracted to them.

The celebrity

The movie star, Kate Hudson. She seems like an all-rounder. She's beautiful and seems to laugh a lot; she's so stylish and looks like she has a cool personality.

The virtue

I love being active and working out. It makes me feel good.

The vice

Chocolate!

The smell

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. It's so fresh and sweet.

The taste

A caramel slice from The Punnet health store in Lower Mount Street in Dublin. It's my absolute favourite treat.
