An American woman has found her ‘twin stranger’ through a dating app, after a friend feared her photos had been stolen by an online catfish.

Ilysse Ratner received a worried message from her friend David Aronin, who had come across what he believed to be her images on an online dating app JSwipe.

However, upon receiving the images, Ilysse was shocked to discover that they weren’t photographs of her at all, but of a complete stranger who looked exactly like her.

Ilysse, who works in fashion in New York, contacted Twin Strangers, who discovered herlook-a-like was fashion designer to the stars Veronique Hadjibay and connected the pair.

“A lot of my friends on Facebook were saying that the side by side photo of us was catfished and that of course someone had took my photos. That there are ten fake profiles of me out there. Somebody even wrote 'That’s obviously you dummy’,” said Ilysse.

“My mother was really upset that she had a hard time figuring out which one was me!”

“The features that are most similar with us are the eyes. They’re the same eyes that everyone has in my family; all of my uncles, my brother, my niece, my nephew. So for one feature to be so pronounced in my genetics for someone else to have was very shocking for me and intriguing. We call them Rather eyes in my family”.
