The worst celebrity break-ups of 2015

2015 proved difficult for some of our favourite celebrity couples.
Gwen Steffani and Gavin Rossdale
The No Doubt frontwoman was married to Gavin Rossdale for almost 13 years and they have three sons together, Kingston (9), Zuma (6) and Apollo (19 months).
They had long been regarded as one of the coolest couples in rock but it's believed their marriage ended due to the British musician's alleged, secret two-year affair with the couple's nanny (who bears a striking resemblance to Gwen).
Earlier in the year, before the couple announced their split, Gwen gushed about her marriage.
“We both want to be married. We both want to be good parents, and so I feel really proud of what we've done together and that we don't...You're gonna get me crying, no don't, I'm going to get all emotional! But I am really proud of it.”
In November Gwen went public about her current romantic relationship with The Voice US co-star Blake Shelton.
Vogue Williams and Brian McFadden
The Irish model announced the couple's split on Twitter in July after nearly three years of marriage in a statement saying: "It is with sadness that Brian and I have made the tough decision to go our separate ways.
“It just didn’t work" Vogue claimed in an interview with The Irish Sun.
“He wasn’t with anyone else, I wasn’t with anyone else, it was nothing to do with that. That’s why we find it easier to be friends maybe," she said.
However, in the months that followed it looked like the pair were leaning towards a reconciliation as they made various public appearances together.
Both of their careers became more successful than ever following the split with Vogue landing a number of presenting gigs with RTE and Channel Four and securing fashion work with her blog. Meanwhile, Brian is back on tour and releasing a new solo album.
Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards
The former One Direction star called off his engagement to Little Mix singer Perrie, just after his departure from the boyband in March.
He was said to have ended their relationship via text message at the time, but he has since spoken out to insist that is not what happened.
"She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well. I don't want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn't do that," he said.
Perrie was devastated by the breakup and was even seen crying while she performed with her bandmates after the split.
Zayn has since moved on with model Gigi Hadid.
Imelda May and Darrel Higham
The rockabilly singer (41) announced her split with husband of 13 years Darrell Higham in July on Facebook.
"As you can imagine we are very sad but happy we're making the right decision for us and our daughter who is doing really well by the way," the rockabilly musician wrote.
Liberties-native Imelda has one daughter, Violet, with Darrell, who was a member of her band.
The quirky songstress is moving on though and said to be enjoying a new romance with a mystery French man.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
The pair announced their split on the eve of their 10th wedding anniversary and we were especially upset about this one as they seemed like Hollywood's most down-to-earth and solid couples.
Rumours circulated that Ben had been cheating on Jen and also struggled with alcohol and gambling issues. They have three children together - Violet, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth and Samuel Garner Affleck.
While picking up an Oscar for best picture for Argo in 2013, Affleck referenced Garner, saying: " I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It's good. It is work but it's the best kind of work and there's no one I'd rather work with."
Since the break up, they've put on a united front, with sources close to the pair revealing the couple's three children, are their top priority. Now it appears their amicable split has led to a delay in signing divorce papers.
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
The 32-year-old reality star split from Kourtney Kardashian, with whom he has three children, back in July after he was caught by paparazzi getting close with ex-girlfriend - celebrity stylist Chloe Bartoli.
Since the split, Scott was seen partying with a string of women while Kourtney got close to singer Justin Bieber.
But it looks like the reality tv stars are already teeing up for a reconciliation as they were spotted out and about together. Kris Jenner also revealed that she thinks Scott "deserves" a second chance.
Courtney Cox and Johnny McDaid
The Snow Patrol musician and the Friends star called off their engagement a month ago after 18 months together.
It's believed that Courtney is now desperately trying to salvage their relationship through couples counselling and seeking advice from close friends, including Jennifer Aniston.
The pair were introduced by mutual friend Ed Sheeran and seemed to enjoy a close relationship, with Courtney welcoming Johnny's rocker pals Kodaline to her LA home to shoot the video for the single Love Will Set You Free.
Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt
The Mad Man actor and his partner confirmed that they made the mutual decision to end their romance after 18 years together, after they were plagued by rumours surrounding the state of their relationship for several months.
News of the couple’s split came after Jon confirmed earlier this year that he had entered rehab for a 30-day stint to seek help for his alcohol addiction.
At the time, Jon credited Jennifer for having been incredibly supportive during his period in the treatment centre. It was also reported that she was instrumental in helping him make the decision to seek help.
Speaking last year, Jon told People how lucky he felt to have found Jennifer: "Our lives are entwined," he said. "It's a long time [together]. I'm definitely the guy that repeats his stories! Mostly it's just paying attention and keeping engaged and not succumbing to inertia or going through the motions.”
Aidan Turner and Sarah Greene
The 32-year-old Poldark star and actress Sarah Greene split in November.
The pair met at the Gaiety School of Acting and had known each other for 10 years, with the first two years of their relationship conducted long-distance.
"It was tough. But we knew straight away that we were going to make it work," Aidan said in June this year.
"And it was always worth it. That was a question we asked each other: Is it worth it all the time? And it always was, and it still very much is. If we got through that, we can get through anything."
But they didn't and we're devastated.
David Walliams and Lara Stone
The Little Britain star and his Dutch supermodel wife called off their marriage in March of this year. The couple initially began dating in 2009 and they tied the knot a year later. They welcomed son Alfred in May 2013.
There were many theories surrounding the split with one suggesting that the pair were simply too busy ever to see one another, but that is not the picture Lara painted in an interview early this year.
“I like the feeling of belonging somewhere,” she said, “and finding your place in the world. I don’t really enjoy parties. David and I don’t really drink – he likes it more than me. This week we are in every night – that’s good for me.”
We'd hoped they'd get back together but the couple's divorce was finalised in March.
