You mightn't have asked the question, but we now know the answer for the sexiest time of the year.

Turn 8:47pm Valentine's Day, you're most likely to get busy - so, set your clocks.

According to new research, many couples have set aside a specific time for sex and it all begins at 8pm.

Newer couples tend to kick off at 8:07pm, while married couples or those together for a longer time leave it another hour at 9:07pm. Those with children schedule it for 9:23pm when the kids are in bed - leaving the average of 8:47pm.

The study, conducted by sex toy retailer Lovehoney, surveyed 1,000 Irish people and grilled them about their bedroom antics, with nearly half (42pc), saying they have sex on Valentine's Day.

It comes as little surprise then that 50pc said they would be "disappointed" without some lovin' on V-Day, while another 48pc said they pressure to perform.

Just seven per cent of couples shun sex altogether on Valentine's Day.
