Here comes the bride... Almost two thirds of single women have already planned their wedding
Almost two thirds of single women have planned specific parts of their wedding according to a new study.
Six in ten single women have carried out research into dresses, flowers and reception venues despite still being on the quest to find Mr Right.
The study, carried out by Interflora, found that nearly half of the 600 single women polled have decided which of their friends will stand as bridesmaids.
The decision is typically made at the age of 18, while girls begin dreaming of their ideal wedding by age 13.
Even though they are still waiting to find ‘the one’ some of the women surveyed admitted they had put funds aside, with one in ten starting to save money for the big day.
‘‘This research shows just how important a woman’s wedding day is to them,’’ a spokeswoman for the company said.
‘‘Even those who haven’t yet got a partner have a clear idea of the type of wedding they would like.
‘‘If you have attended the weddings of close friends and family it’s hard not to be inspired and start envisaging how you would like your own big day,’’ she added.
Some 34 per cent of the unspoken-for women polled admitted they regularly browse the internet for information on anything from the perfect wedding venues to the most enviable dresses.
One in twenty of the girls have bought wedding magazines and 17 per cent have attended a wedding fair.
Not surprisingly, 58 per cent of the women said they wouldn’t dream of sharing their thoughts with a new boyfriend.
The poll found 13 per cent of the single women have narrowed down the exact month they would like their nuptials to take place.
‘‘It is romantic to think that there are so many women out there who can’t wait to fall in love and enjoy a fantastic wedding day,’’ the spokeswoman said.
‘‘We know how much people think about all aspects of their wedding day before deciding on what is right for them.
‘‘Researching and getting ideas is really important for the biggest day of your life,’’ she added.
