As Rihanna and Chris Brown get back together, and Kirsten Stewart and Robert Pattinson flirt with a reunion, Bella Parsons looks at the stars who gave love a second chance.

PINK AND CAREY HART

Then: Pink and Hart met in 2001 at an extreme sports event -- Hart is a motocross champ -- and dated for two years before breaking up in 2003.

The couple soon got back together again and, in June 2005, Pink broke convention by proposing to Hart at a bike race in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Hart was competing when Pink held up a sign saying 'Will you marry me?' and a second sign, 'I'm serious', when he passed her on the second lap.

The break-up: After months of speculation, Pink's publicist confirmed that the Grammy winner and her hubby had separated. "This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another," Michele Schweitzer said.

Writing on her website, Pink said: "This break-up is not about cheating, anger, or fighting... He is a good man, so please support him as well. One never knows the future, but mine and Carey's just might involve beach babies and sunshine one day."

The reunion: During their separation, in August 2008, Hart's brother died. Pink was there by his side, giving her support to Hart. After another six months, in March 2009, Hart revealed in an interview that he and Pink were "dating".

"Sometimes you have to take a couple of steps back to move forward," he said.

Now: The pair have been enjoying married life together once again and are now the doting parents of one-year-old daughter Willow.

Pink has stated that the couple went to marriage counselling and got back together after never being legally divorced, and it seems they are more loved-up than ever.

Second-chance love story: Success!

RUSSELL CROWE AND DANIELLE SPENCER

Then: They met on the set of 'The Crossing' in 1990, but it was always a toss-up who would be on Crowe's arm at movie premieres, even though singer and soap star Spencer occasionally supported Crowe's band, 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts.

The break-up: Crowe left his girl behind in Australia when he set off to seek his fortune in Hollywood. He then had a fling with Meg Ryan while filming 'Proof of Life'.

The reunion: After hitting the big time with 'Gladiator', Crowe realised he had made a mistake and tried to win back Spencer. Luckily for him, she went for it, and from 2002 she was firmly at his side at all major ceremonies.

The pair moved into his new place in Sydney before relocating to a 600-acre cattle ranch a few hours to the north at Nana Glen, near Coffs Harbour.

Now: The couple tied the knot in 2003 and have two sons -- Charles and Tennyson. Spencer clearly stands her ground with the grumpy star and refused to support him when he attacked a hotel worker with a phone -- among other outbursts.

"This is where it's difficult because I'm not condoning his behaviour," she said. "I don't want to make excuses for him because I'm certainly not."

However, it wasn't to be. After nine years of marriage, the couple have separated.

Sources surrounding them have said the split is amicable, but number crunchers have estimated that Spencer could be facing one of the biggest divorce settlements to head to the Hollywood courts.

Second-chance love story: Fail!

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE AND JESSICA BIEL

Then: According to Timberlake, Biel was reluctant to date him when they first met in 2007, following his break-up with long-time love Cameron Diaz a few months earlier. The former 'N SYNCer confessed that their meeting was very "un-Hollywoodesque" and that "there was nothing starry about it".

"We met and got talking. Afterwards I asked my friend, also called Jessica, if I could call her and ask her out," says Timberlake. "My friend said yes, and so I called her," he revealed, adding, "I did it the old-fashioned way, by telephone.

"That's something I learned from both my stepdad and my grandfather, that there is a thing called chivalry and it doesn't have to die with the birth of the internet.

"The way I see it," he continued, "if you're asking a girl out on a date, it's only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice.

"I had to be pretty persistent in order to get her to say yes. But I have a fair amount of tenacity, and if I want something I stick to it. And in the end she agreed."

The break-up: After four years together, Timberlake and Biel called it a day. Rumours were beginning to circulate that things were not great between the couple when the singer turned up to the 2011 Academy Awards with his mother, not Biel.

And further cracks started to show when Biel threw a surprise birthday party for Timberlake -- making an awkward speech. One month later they split but, according to publicists, they mutually parted ways but remained good friends.

The reunion: After seven months apart, the couple had a change of heart and decided to give things another try.

Their first public outing was to a charity fundraiser at Justin's New York restaurant Southern Hospitality, where they were all smiles and couldn't keep their hands off each other. In May this year, they decided to make their love lifelong and got engaged.

Now: They are blissfully happy! Married recently, Timberlake and Biel look more and more loved up with each passing day. So much so, the usually private Timberlake has taken the unusual step of gushing about his new wife to reporters.

While promoting his movie 'Trouble with the Curve' he described her as "a really, really, really special person. Plus, she's really, really, hot!"

Second-chance love story: Success!

PAMELA ANDERSON AND TOMMY LEE

Then: The bad boy of rock and the 'Baywatch' babe wed after a whirlwind romance of just 96 hours, with her wearing just a bikini on a Mexican beach. They had two sons together, Brandon and Dylan.

The break-up: After a raunchy video and two sons later, the pair shared a very rocky relationship. Pammie filed for divorce from Lee twice and reconciled twice, before finally divorcing him in 1998.

The reunion: It seems Anderson and Lee have more of a third or fourth chance at love.

In February 2007, Anderson said that she still often had sex with Lee. And in mid-2008, the Motley Crue star said that they were going to try again to make things work.

Now: Their fiery love couldn't stand the test of time, and now, despite rumours they are considering yet another reconciliation, they are just friends for the sake of their boys.

Second-chance love story: Fail!
