Melanie Griffith files for divorce from Antonio Banderas
Hollywood couple Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas are no more.
Griffith has filed for divorce from Banderas, TMZ.com are reporting.
The ‘Working Girl’ actress has filed legal documents, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending their 18-year marriage.
The couple have one child together, daughter Stella, who turns 18 in September.
High profile divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who represented Britney Spears in her divorce from former husband Kevin Federline, is representing Griffith.
In the papers lodged by the actress, she is asking for spousal support.
The documents do not list the date of separation.
Sources have told TMZ the split is amicable – but the dividing up of property may prove complicated as they own a number of properties in the US and Spain.
This is Griffith’s fourth divorce. She was previously married to Miami Vice star Don Johnson.
This is Banderas’ second divorce
Rumours have circulated on and off since last year that the couple’s marriage was in trouble, but both stars had denied there were any issues.
The couple met on the set of 1995 film Two Much and their relationship led the end of his marriage to Ana Leza. One month after his divorce was finalised, the 53-year-old married Melanie in a low key ceremony in London, England.
