Get the look: Astrid Brennan
Getting transitional dressing right can be tricky. It's that awkward time when you don't know which way the weather's going to turn on a daily basis.
PR mastermind Astrid Brennan has nailed it perfectly here. She's chosen black basics, so she will look chic whether it lashes rain or the sun splits the pavement. Tan sandals are the perfect end-of-summer-beginning-of-autumn crossover shoe. And the printed jacket saves the black from becoming too boringly officey, or looking too wintery
I am going to a wedding next month. I have an LK Bennett skirt to wear, but I cannot find a top to go with it. It's mid-calf-length, in a satiny fabric, with a a digital floral print, and it has a full skirt.
Answer: First, it sounds like there's enough going on with the skirt, so keep the top very simple. Avoid any of those boho off-the-shoulder numbers around at the moment. Ideally, choose a really simple camisole top, or even a luxurious T-shirt. Here are some options, at three price points. Cos has some lovely plain black vest tops in cotton, around the €25 mark. Reiss has a lovely sleeveless, high-necked, silky tank in a pale blush (basically beige), €135. Brown Thomas has a gorgeous classic black camisole - with a straight neckline to avoid it looking too underwear-ish - adjustable straps and a double layer of silk, at €235. And to balance the flounce of the skirt, we'd advise pointy-toed court shoes in black.
