Zooey Deschanel: I influence on-screen style

Zooey Deschanel says her personal style always "seeps" into her onscreen characters.
The brunette beauty is currently starring in the TV series New Girl. The comedy show follows Jess, played by Zooey, a 20-something who moves into a loft with three male housemates after a messy break-up.
Zooey worked very closely with costume designer Debra McGuire to decide on Jess’ fashion. The actress says her character’s style choices are very reflective of her own.
“I would say yes. I think my own personal style always ends up seeping into characters that I play. I’ve always had a very distinct idea of fashion for myself, and what a character should wear,” she told Collider.com.
Zooey appreciated Debra’s input on set. The style expert was a kindred spirit when it came to discussing fashion.
“Our costume designer is all kinds of amazing. I’m obsessed with her. I love her so much,” Zooey gushed.
“She’s my fashion soulmate. We just nerd out on fashion.”
