CLOTHING chain Zara has been forced to withdraw a new line of tops from sale after an outcry over its resemblance to uniforms worn by Jewish prisoners in Nazi concentration camps.
The children's long-sleeved T-shirt, inset, which was on sale online, had blue and white horizontal stripes and a large yellow star in the top left-hand corner. In a message on Twitter, Zara said: "We honestly apologise. It was inspired by the sheriff's stars from the classic Western films and is no longer in our stores."
In an email to customers who complained, the company said it prided itself on its record on equality.(© Daily Telegraph, London)
