Winter warmers help us see bright side of washout summer

FUNNY how a great winter coat can set Irish fashion heads swivelling -- even in the first week of July.
The absence of sunshine and a regime of rain has left many shoppers lusting after outerwear rather than swimwear.
Oasis's scarlet coat for €106 was very well received in Dublin yesterday when the high-street chain unveiled its keenly priced Autumn-Winter 2011 Collection.
Strong coating and vintage-inspired knitwear were the stars of the collection which boasts lots of desirable 'antiqued' pieces.
Embellished collars and cuffs help you achieve that vintage look which is so big for the second half of 2011.
A cream, collarless faux fur coat (€138) worn over a shift dress with Schiaparelli-style bow in gold beads at the neckline (€88) provides the right mix of glamour and cover-up.
Themes include the 'gamine dandy' and 'Paris nights' with a mesmerising selection of knitwear stretching from lurex to drop-stitch,and open-gauge jumpers to fluffy, foil-printed tops.
The lust factor can be found in some great leather pieces, starting with a black jersey dress with real leather panels down the front.
It looks designer, but costs €150, the same price as the black wool coat with leather sleeves.
Also impressive were the purple, pink and red, oriental digital print skirts and tops (€75 each).
