What should I wear for my daughter’s party at home?

what should I wear for my daughter's party at home?

I am a 47-year-old father and my daughter turns 21 soon, so we're having a party in the house. What do I wear so as not to be over- or under-dressed? I am 6ft and a size 34/32. I'm playing with average funds.

Given the setting is your own home, I'd say aim for the slightly more casual side of smart/casual. What does that mean? Well, pretty much any combination smarter than a tracksuit.

An ideal outfit, for example, could be a short-sleeved white shirt, neat dark-wash jeans and a pair of brown loafers. At Brown Thomas, you'll find regular-fit indigo-wash jeans by AJ Armani (1 €150), which could be combined with the 'Andre' loafer at Tommy Hilfiger – a classic suede loafer with a contrasting accent-coloured strap across the arch (2 €184.90).

For something smarter, wear a light-coloured suit such as the pale-blue one at H&M (3 blazer €59.95; trousers €29.95) with a plain navy shirt or crew-neck tee.
