What lies beneath... is a design triumph
Innovative and eye-catching, sumptuous and sexy -- they certainly aren't smalls to hide in your bottom drawer.
In fact, these catwalk showpieces could propel one young Irish fashion graduate into the lingerie stratosphere at the prestigious Triumph Inspiration Awards in Shanghai in October.
May 30 is D-Day for 16 students drawn from Limerick School of Art and Design and Griffith College in Dublin who have made it into the Irish finals of the prestigious international contest.
Among the Irish finalists is Giovanna Borza (26) from Lucan, a second-year Griffith College student whose theme was 'Dragons and Butterflies'.
Her sheer black, stretch mesh one-piece, entitled Infusion, features strong textural interest of twisted suede at the front, a raised conical bra effect in woven leather and cotton and an intricate knotted back.
The contest asks students from around the globe to create lingerie showpieces.
Brown Thomas is hosting the Irish finals and from tomorrow the 16 finalists' designs will be on display on a rotated basis in their stores. The public can vote for their favourites at iPad stations in-store.
The Irish winner will travel to Shanghai to compete against 30 other national winners.
