Want to be a Chanel Ambassadress? It's more complicated than you might think

Last night, Karl Lagerfeld unveiled his latest haute couture collection for the house of Chanel.
Apart from the clothes, all eyes were also be on the front row, guaranteed to be jam-packed with haute society, thoroughbred aristocracy, Hollywood's chicest and of course 'Karl's Angels' - AKA the Chanel ambassadresses.
Funnily enough, 'Chanel Ambassadress' wasn't one of the vocations mooted when I met with my career's officer, aged 15.
Probably just as well or I would have insisted my parents remortgage their house to send me to finishing school, caught the first ferry to France (yes, we're talking pre-Eurostar), and pretty much stopped eating.
Holders of the coveted title can expect the latest Chanel creations at their disposal; invites to chicest parties, and the best seats in the house come show time. So who exactly can add the prized initials 'C.A' to their name, and presumably the iconic double c's to their correspondence?
Well, it's more complicated than you might think with Chanel operating a multi-tier system with regard to their 'special friends'.
In advance of last night's show, a press release arrived announcing who would, (note, not who might), attend tonight's show.
The only bonafide 'Chanel ambassadress' on the list was actress Anna Mouglalis who recently played Mademoiselle Chanel in the movie 'Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky'.
Next down the list come 'Les Fidèles' ( the faithful ) who encompass stylists Vanessa Traina and Caroline Sieber, and model/socialite Poppy Delevingne.
The 'Chanel Loyal' are next, and they can count ex-Chanel muse Inès de la Fressange and her daughters Nine and Violette, Astrid Bergès Frisbey, Charlotte Casiraghi, Tallulah Harlech and Alexa Chung in their ranks.
Then there's 'Socialites' (including Gaia Repossi, Julia Roitfeld, Laura Bailey, Tatiana Santo Domingo); 'International celebrities' (Diane Kruger & Joshua Jackson, Milla Jovovich, Elle Fanning); and finally 'Japanese celebrities' (Kiko Mizuhara, Yu Aoi, Ringo Sheena, Ken Hirai, Hiroshi Tamaki, Junya Ishigami).
One can only imagine the in-fighting and back-biting that goes on between the chosen ones as they try to ascend the ranks to achieve ambassadress status and enter Karl's inner sanctum. Let's just hope they were were all sat well apart.
