Hands up if your style icon is Olivia Palermo? The American model/style influencer has legions of fans here, including new jeans designer, Pippa O'Connor. I never fail to be impressed by how Olivia continually changes up her look, never looking the same at formal or semi-formal occasions.
The arrival of the party season sends shivers of fear down the necks of so many women - from the hardcore social types who are out all year and desperately want something divine to shine in, to the women who dread having to don something sparkly while also managing heels.
And then there's the home brigade who would much prefer fleece pjs and Strictly Come Dancing on the couch on a Saturday night to putting on false eye lashes and tanning up the legs for a night on the tiles.
Well take comfort ladies, the team at Weekend have found some rather fabulous 'get out of jail' style solutions for the upcoming Christmas party scene at all price points, starting with the aforementioned Olivia Palermo who is the face of the Coast A16 collection and the epitome of refined style.
I must confess, I had written off the high street brand as the destination for big skirts and high/low hemlines, but they have nailed bold metallics and luxurious textures. Those gold/black pants (far right) would look equally good the next night with a black tuxedo jacket.
Head-turning looks we found include a €25 gold dress from Heatons, sequinned separates from Monsoon and a rather fabulous and versatile coat for dressing up from Carolyn Donnelly The Edit at Dunnes Stores. It has just landed into stores so move fast.
