Sleek horses and an angular hat made from hair turned heads at the RDS yesterday, writes fashion editor Bairbre Power.

Celebrity hair stylist and milliner Michael Leon mixed his skills to fashion the unique 'Great Lengths' hat to announce the hair extension brand's sponsorship of the 'Most Creative Hat' competition at the Dundrum Town Centre Ladies Day at the RDS on August 6.

The headpiece modelled by Thalia Heffernan was made from hair extensions manipulated around wire and took Michael three days to make.

The winner of the Most Creative Hat competition walks away with €1,000 worth of hair extensions and a €1,000 voucher for the five-star Europe Hotel and Resort in Killarney, Co Kerry.
