My fashion philosophy this year hinges on buying Irish and buying locally where possible, and with that in mind we have a glamorous shoot to inspire you using the best of our local boutiques.

Our Girl About Town shoot features some very desirable pieces from Brown Thomas, The Design Centre, Fitzpatrick's Shoes, Costume, Loulerie and Emporium Kalu in Naas.

We also feature some trans-seasonal designer pieces from favourite international stores, such as Harvey Nics in Dundrum.

While preparing for my gift guide, which will feature on December 18, I visited Loulerie, the intriguing jewellery store owned by Louise Stokes on Chatham Street.

This busy mum stocks some stunning designer brands and highly collectable names, such as Alexis Bittar, which friends will always appreciate receiving, but if your budget won't stretch to that, you will find less expensive pieces such as the Lucid necklace from our shoot, which costs €69.

If you are in Dublin, head to Fitzpatrick's Shoes on Grafton Street, where you will get designer-style patent heels costing from €175. We featured the grey version in our shoot, but there's also a very cheery cherry-red version, which is perfect for Christmas.

And with the Arctic weather we've been enduring it's time to invest in a pair of great boots, so we have lots of ideas on the next page -- everything from the hard-working day boot to a few glamorous specimens, plus comfy wedges for wearing under your Houlihan jeans.
