The Donnybrook native (19) flew to Australia to dip her toes in the international modelling scene and has been going down a storm with the Aussies.

She is certainly make a big splash - her recent jobs include modelling bikinis on Bondi Beach and she has been busy attending a number of high-profile castings.

Thalia told this week how she is really enjoying her new life in sun-kissed Sydney, where she is spending the next three months building up her profile and portfolio.

"I'm really busy, it's great. I love it here. I shot for Cosmo last week and did another for Cleo. I'm still a little bit jet-lagged but I'm having fun," she said.

Thalia has been working flat out since returning from the States before Christmas where she was snapped up by the prestigious Ford agency, which also represents Elle Macpherson.

She also worked in London as she spread her modelling wings further afield.

Hailed as one to watch in the farther, she started in the industry when she was just 15 and has already worked for all of Ireland's top designers, thanks to her height and stunning good looks.

She completed her Leaving Cert last year but has decided to put college on the back burner as she concentrates on her modelling.

"I've been able to really focus on the modelling, put more time and effort into it and it has really worked out well for me," she said.

"I am getting a really positive response to my work. I am delighted it is going really well. I am really happy.

"I think I am going to put college on the back-burner for now just because this job has an expiry date.

"It's not something you can work in your whole life and I don't want to feel that I have wasted my time.

"And of course, with college you can go when you want. I think for myself and my career I need to get myself out there [Australia] and see what happens.

"There's quite a lot of interest and I feel I have been home for quite a while so I can kind of afford to go.

"It will be nerve-wrecking but it is definitely going to be a big experience."

Thalia, who flew down under on her own at the end of last month, was first linked to singer Niall Horan a few weeks ago after the pair were reportedly spotted looking cosy at the wrap party for One Direction in 37 Dawson Street.

The leggy beauty, who's signed with London Management Agency, is certainly Niall's type.

The Mullingar native appears to have a liking for young models, given that he was previously linked with Victoria's Secret beauty Barbara Palvin and Coolock lass Zoe Whelan.

Neither of them has commented on the reports linking them together.
