Dear Stylemma, I’m attending a low-key wedding next month and I have no idea what to wear. The whole affair is pretty relaxed — the reception is in the family home, so I don’t want to look too formal. What do you recommend?
When it comes to appropriate wedding wear, low-key weddings can be just as stressful as more formal affairs; you don’t want to look more dressed up than the bride, but you don’t want to look as if you threw any old thing on, either. You want an outfit that looks effortless, and we think Reiss’s soft silk Juliette dress in indigo, €210, would fit the bill. This cute knee-length dress would look great with some nude peep-toe heels, a vintage clutch and tousled hair. The great thing about relaxed weddings is that wearing flats is totally acceptable. Why not pair Alwear’s jewelled-toepost sandals in black, €25, with a Maje python-print silk maxi-dress, €429, available at BT2. If you prefer trousers, then Zara’s Skinny Trousers in fuchsia, €39.95, would look casual and chic teamed with a plain white Jill Sander-esque blouse and Isabel Marant-inspired kitten heels.
