The crop top trend is no longer restricted to the high street teenagers.

After a few brief appearances at low-key VIIP events in recent months, this not-so-new trend has exploded into a red carpet necessity.

And unsurprisingly, the Kardashians seem to be forging the way for this youthful fashion takeover.

Kim led the superstars walking the blue carpet at last night's star-studded Teen Choice Awards in LA, and took younger sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner as her dates.

Kylie and Kim both wore complementary ensembles comprising of high waisted animal print bodycon skirts with black crop-tops.

Following their lead was singer Taylor Swift in a mind green bustier crop top and skater skirt by Novis; Chloe Grace Moretz in a bandeau top with printed high waisted shorts from the Valentino Resort '15 collection; singer Jordin Sparks in Simply Intricate and Hilary Duff who went for the head to toe leather look with a Sachin & Babi top and vintage skirt.
