Top model Sarah Tansey ditches New York fashion scene for Ireland
She has modelled for top agencies in London and New York but Irish beauty Sarah Tansey has given it up to come back home to her boyfriend.
The Dundalk woman (28) has been modelling since her early 20s, with stints with Models One in London and Wilhelmina in New York.
“I was in London with Models One for about a year and I just moved back from New York. It’s a great adventure, but I missed home,” she told the Herald.
“Dublin is definitely my favourite. I missed everyone, my boyfriend David is here, my family is here.”
Sarah studied for a pharmacy degree at the Royal College of Surgeons. While there she modelled part-time before taking up a career in front of the camera when she graduated.
The brunette admitted she ended up in her current career completely by chance.
“I did theatre as a kid and I was in a play when one of the adjudicators suggested I should start doing commercials or something. It was completely by accident.
“Modelling has a time limit, so you have to go for it while you have the chance. I started when I was 21, so I’ve been doing it about seven years. It’s hard to get sick of because it’s different all the time.”
Speaking at the launch of Lancome’s new range of L’Absolu Rouge lipstick pallets, Sarah said boyfriend David Columb, who she met in the college library, backs her career in the limelight.
“He’s very supportive, which is nice, because I’ve been away for the bones of two years and he was nice about it. He’s happy once I’m happy.
“He never complained about it and his schedule is mental,” she said.
