Kate Middleton is undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most, influential style icon in the world.
The Duchess of Cambridge never takes a fashion misstep and tops best dressed lists around the world as well as boasting selling power most Hollywood A-listers could only dream of.
But it wasn't always the case.
In 2005, she graduated from St Andrew's College with a degree in History of Art, attended a few weddings and also showed off her fondness for chunky belts, belly tops and one very questionable outback hat.
1. The Wedding Guest
At the wedding of Hugh Van Cutsem and Rose Astor, we get the first glimpse of her love of sheer tights. Shiny sheer tights. With a striped shirt, white button down blazer and fascinator.
2. The Graduate
At her graduation from St Andrew's College, the future princess was the epitome of a 2005 prep girl. A white shirt, black bodycon skirt, black opague tights and the standout - a brown Longchamp Le Pliage small tote.
3. The Kylie Jenner
Before her graduation day, the then 23-year-old wore a bang-on-trend white camisole string top, bellybutton and all. This is where her love of chunky belts really begins to show.
4. The Off Duty
For a shopping day with her mom, she wore her favourite belt, flared jeans, cowboy boots and cropped blazer. Spotted: Another Longchamp Le Pliage tote.
5. The Crocodile Hunter
At the Festival of British Eventing, she blends into the crowd with muted tones, another chunky belt and an outback hat she wouldn't take off for the rest of the day.
5a. Let's take a look at the outfit as a whole:
5b: I feel like no one is talking about this hat enough:
For the record, all these pieces were the epitome of noughties chic and Kate was likely still the most stylish women everywhere she went. But 2015 Kate? Puh-lease.
